A career fire fighter, Gert Venter, now needs assistance.
The GMA Fund will arrange for Gert to be measured and consulted over his and Lillian's specific needs and then a custom made wheelchair will be built for Gert. The consultant will also advise the couple on other devices that could make life easier to them both, to the total value of R30 000,00!
My name is Riaan Cloete. I am a Platoon Commander at Huntershill Fire station 18, near the Coca Cola Dome in Randburg. One of our colleagues Firefighter/EMT Gert Venter and his family need assistance. Gert served the community with pride for 20 years. Now, Gert is a very sick man. He was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy and he also suffers from a pulmonary embolism. He has also suffered three heart attacks. Gert was declared unfit for duty. Gert's wife, Lillian is a Dispatcher at the Emergency services control room and she works 12 hour shifts to provide for her family. Gert cannot walk more than three steps at a time and Lillian is disabled - she only has one functioning arm and hand. She cannot carry Gert if he has a bad day.
Gert and Lillian are in desperate need of a wheelchair. If there is any possibility that you can assist them, it would be appreciated.
