Elke Erasmus has a terminal illness.
Elke Erasmus has only weeks to live, after being diagnosed with aggressive bile duct cancer. Elke has a son of 11 and a daughter of 8-years old. She is a single parent and her children as her greatest concern. Initially, her friends approached Good Morning Angels to help them send her on their first ever sea holiday. But, Elke is not strong enough to travel that far. Now, we would just like to help them, help her spend her last months as trouble free and meaningful as possible.
SPONSORING: The Good Morning Angels Golf Day Fund will contribute R 20 000,00 towards Elke's needs, to make her remaining time with her children as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
We would like to knock on your doors for some help with our friend.
Elke Erasmus is a single parent, her husband died eight years ago in a car accident. She has two children, a boy of eleven and a girl of eight years old. She started getting ill in January last year. She has no medical aid and went to Steve Biko Hospital. She was diagnosed with yellow jaundice and they treated her for the disease. She was admitted three times into the hospital last year for jaundice..
January this year, the doctors decided to operate and found she had tumors in her bile ducts, they sent samples away to be tested and a month later told her she had "Bile Duct" cancer. She was incorrectly diagnosed with yellow jaundice to start with. Doctors at Steve Biko sent her home, saying they cannot do anything more for her, giving her only morphine medication for the pain (which is not always available at the hospital). They also told her that she only had 6 months left to live. She said she would do anything just to spend more time with her children, so we as her friends decided to get a second opinion from a private doctor (Dr. Smith - Pretoria Moot Hospital). Elke went to the private doctor on the 18 th of April 2012, and the doctor also informed her that the cancer had unfortunately spread too far and there was nothing she could do for her. If this cancer was diagnosed in time maybe she had a better chance, but unfortunately it is very aggressive.
Elke is a dear woman who never says or does anything to harm others. She and her children have never been on holiday at the sea because being a single parent she could never afford it!
We do not know for how much longer she will be with us. We would like to help her, but there is very little we can do taking her situation into account. All we ask is that our dear friend may at least have one last holiday with her children that will make her last days something special.
From her friends
