Resources Aimed at the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (RAPCAN) is a non-profit organisation that plays a key role in child advocacy, promoting the rights of children and developing child abuse prevention strategies. RAPCAN was established in 1989 by the University of Cape Town‚??s Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, in response to the need for education and training in the field of child abuse prevention.
Sasol has been a sponsor of RAPCAN since 2006 and together, have rolled out a national toolkit, ‚??Healing Package‚?? to conduct therapy and provide support to survivors of child abuse.
The ‚??Healers Package‚?? is a therapeutic toolkit to support practitioners in their therapeutic work when dealing with sexually abused children.
The Healer‚??s Package consists of therapeutic activity books for children and adolescents, a practitioner's manual, a manual for the caregivers of the child and activity materials such as play dough, toys, journal and crayons amongst others.
We align the project with well-established organisations and reliable individuals such as Childline, Teddy Bear Clinic and social workers to ensure that children receive the best support nationally.
RAPCAN makes a significant contribution in ensuring that there are well-equipped training manuals and facilities available that aid in providing the best care giving.
Through the outstanding work that RAPCAN is doing, children‚??s lives get changed for the better and they are able to move past their obstacles and gain confidence.
